About

I love making pictures; I think it is because Iʻm not that great with words.

I am from Mānoa, Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi and graduated from the University of Hawaiʻi Mānoa. I have been a french fry cooker, burger flipper, math tutor, social worker, information technology specialist, database programmer, sailing and navigation instructor, dishwasher, host, bartender, waiter, and restaurant manager. From 1999 to 2005, I was blessed with the opportunity to sail with the Polynesian Voyaging Society on the double-hulled sailing canoe, Hōkūleʻa. For the last 5 years, I have been extremely lucky to be the program coordinator for the marine fellowship program at The Nature Conservancy of Hawaiʻi. I am now so very thankful to be a husband to a beautiful, intelligent wife and father to two little winged, tornado spinning monkey children.

I’ve been in love with photography ever since I was six and in college, I got more a little more serious about it, shooting film with a trusty AE-1. And then when our son was born, it was a wonderful reason to upgrade equipment.

I would say that my preference is to shoot in a lifestyle/editorial, um…style. I like to set up the idea of a scene and then just let things happen naturally. I especially love photographing kids because they’re so dynamic, unpredictable and fun. They’re so full of magic and it’s always a great feeling to capture that perfect moment of pure joy and wonder.

Please do contact me with any questions or inquiries. I would love to meet you and help you capture your great stories!
